Welcome to the home of the Jackrealms Roleplaying Game System! In this narrative-forward gaming system the effort you stake on your characters' actions directly affects the outcome of those actions! To navigate between sections of this website, use the menu to the left.
For new players ready to learn the rules of the system, start with Mechanical Foundation 1:This is a Roleplaying Game! The mechanical foundations are the core rules of play i the Jackrealms Game System and are relevant to all three styles of play: Single-session, multi-session, and campaigning.
For players ready to begin their first single-session game, check out The Jackrooms! The Jackrooms is a liminal space-between-spaces, where the platonic ideals of resort and luxury iterate themselves endlessly. Most people who arrive here do so by becoming lost for too long in a place reflected by the Jackrooms. You and the rest of your team managed to find each other in this place, now if only you could find a way back out...
For players ready to dive into protracted scenarios, check out Jackrealms Dungeoneering! Dungeoneers travel the land seeking ancient artifacts and long-hidden riches. The fantastical lands they travel are dotted with sites colloquially reffered to as dungeons - sites of ancient power and the lairs of great monstrous beasts. Dungeoneers may be designed to explore a large dungeon over multiple sessions of play, or may be designed to follow a campaign of their deeds across the Realm.
Frequently throughout this text certain words or phrases will be written in ALL CAPS the first time they are used, with the vast majority being found in the Mechanical Foundations chapter. These are MECHANICS - terms which relate directly to gameplay. These terms will always mean the same thing when they are used. For example, EFFORT will always refer to the chips used to represent a character’s primary resource for doing something consequential. These terms will be written in normal typeface for all subsequent occurrences. Effort, for example, will only be subsequently capitalized if effort is the first word of the sentence or part of a title.
